During my last year at Ilyon Dynamics, I had the privilege of serving as the principal 3D Artist on this project. I worked closely with art directors, concept artists, and a technical artist to build the game from the ground up. My responsibilities included creating all the environments with their various iterations, assembling the scenes and different areas, and preparing them for implementation in Unity. I also created the majority of the 3D props and textures used in the playable, interactive portion of the game.
One of the core challenges of this project was achieving a fully realized 3D world while keeping the polygon count as low as possible. So we had to come up with ideas to make it possible and test a lot. For instance, most objects in the scene are built with just 6 triangles, yet the camera can move freely around them and a convincing sense of depth is maintained. I really enjoyed working with the team and learnt a lot from this project.
